Marketing Tip_Website Must Haves

We get the questions all the time - what should be on my website? How should my website be built? How can I get my website to perform better?

While website design and development seems to be changing by the minute, there are several things that you can do to make sure you're providing a great user experience while also creating a website that truly becomes your company's best salesman. Here are a few that you can implement today to start moving forward:

Better Placement of Calls-to-Action

There is no use in having a call-to-action (CTA) if no one is going to see it. It's kind of like the tree in the forest issue. If no one sees your CTA, does it even exist? 🤔

By prioritizing your CTAs and moving them up on your page (ideally above the fold), you will see more clicks, more conversions, and more deals resulting from your CTAs. A lot of businesses fall into the trap of burying their CTAs towards the footer of their pages, but only a small percentage of people are going to scroll far enough down your pages to see it!

Hotjar

One of our very favorite tools that we use daily is Hotjar. It's a tool that collects aggregate user data of everyone that comes to your website and delivers you reports on how far people are scrolling on your pages, what they're clicking on, and even a map of where their mouse goes on your pages. It's extremely powerful information that can help you to optimize your website to help users find what they're looking for more quickly and even inform where to place priority CTAs, forms, and important content.

Image Optimization

One of the biggest issues with website load speed is image size. So often businesses throw pictures on their website that are far bigger than is needed for a website. Digital versions of photos do not need to be as high quality as print. Downsizing your images to 72dpi and resizing them to the exact pixel sizes that you'll use on the website are surefire ways to shave precious time off your website load time. If you're using WordPress - there are several plugins that can help you do this.

SSL Certificate

This one seems so silly to still be talking about. It's 2020 - EVERY website needs to be secure. Reach out to your website host and purchase an SSL certificate. They'll install it for you and you will be able to protect your website and your users better. As an added bonus - it'll help your search engine rankings too!
